BRADNER is a community in the FRASER VALLEY about 15 km west of downtown ABBOTSFORD and now part of that city. It was a stop on the BC ELECTRIC RWY CO's INTERURBAN line to CHILLIWACK. Since the 1920s it has become the centre of the largest bulb-growing area in BC and is known as the Daffodil Capital of Canada (see AGRICULTURE). An annual spring flower show has been held here since 1928. One of the early growers was William Vander Zalm Sr, father of former premier Bill VANDER ZALM.
