BRALORNE, pop 200, is a former GOLD mining company town in the BRIDGE R country about 160 km north of VANCOUVER in the COAST MTS. The mine was originally called the Lorne mine, then renamed Bralorne when Austin TAYLOR and his associates took control in 1931. The Bralorne mine operated until 1971, yielding more than 2.8 million oz of gold. At its peak during the 1930s the community had a population of about 1,000. With the rising demand for gold, the mine reopened in 2011.
