Brentwood Bay


BRENTWOOD BAY, pop 6,472, is on the east side of SAANICH INLET, north of VICTORIA on VANCOUVER ISLAND. It was named for a village in Essex, England, home of the president of the BC ELECTRIC RWY CO, which operated the Saanich INTERURBAN line and maintained a powerhouse here. Early settlements in the area, all with post offices by the 1890s, were known as Sluggett, Hagan and Heal.
