Bringhurst, Robert

BRINGHURST, Robert, writer (b 16 Oct 1946, Los Angeles, CA). He came to Alberta with his parents when he was 6 years old and moved to BC to study at UBC in the 1970s. A full-time writer and sometime teacher, he has published several volumes of poetry characterized by its erudition and complexity. An interest in aboriginal culture resulted in a collaboration with the HAIDA artist Bill REID, The Raven Steals the Light (1984), and another book, The Black Canoe (1991), about Reid's sculpture Spirit...
