Camp McKinney

CAMP McKINNEY was a settlement of a few hundred people associated with the CARIBOO Amelia GOLD mine in the mountains about 50 km east of OSOYOOS. Named for Al McKinney, a prospector, it sprang into existence in 1887 and lasted until the early 1900s; the mine played out after producing more than $1 million in gold and became a ghost town. It is located near the Mt Baldy ski area.
