CANADIAN FISHING CO LTD (Canfisco) was a small HALIBUT fishing company in VANCOUVER in 1906 when it was purchased by the New England Fish Co. The new owner kept the original name and installed Alvah HAGER to expand operations. In 1918 the company bought its first SALMON cannery in Vancouver, then spread aggressively to the North Coast in the 1920s. It grew to become, with BC PACKERS LTD, one of the 2 industry giants.
