Canoe

CANOE, a farming, fruit-growing (see AGRICULTURE) and LOGGING community on the CPR and SHUSWAP LK, was established in the early 1900s and is now a suburb of SALMON ARM. A SAWMILL was built here in 1925 by R.W. Bruhn; today Federated Co-operatives Ltd owns a plywood plant. Dugout CANOES were once common on the lake.
