CAPILANO SUSPENSION BRIDGE is a privately owned tourist attraction crossing the CAPILANO R in N VANCOUVER. The original rope bridge across the canyon was built by George Grant Mackay, a land developer, in 1889. It was replaced in 1903 by a steel-cable bridge. Edward Mahon, an Irish-born mine promoter, purchased the site in 1910 and added a teahouse and public garden.
