CARTIER, MOUNT (el 2,608 m) looms over the site of a former settlement and station with the same name on the CPR's ARROWHEAD branch 11 km south of REVELSTOKE. Many UKRAINIAN farmers moved into the district in the early 1900s and operated DAIRY FARMS and ranches (see CATTLE INDUSTRY), providing dairy and meat products for Revelstoke and surrounding communities.
