KEENLEYSIDE DAM, located 8 km west of CASTLEGAR, was the second of 3 dams constructed by BC HYDRO as a result of the COLUMBIA R TREATY. Also known as the Arrow Dam, it is named for Hugh KEENLEYSIDE, chairman of BC Hydro during the 1960s. Completed in Oct 1968, the dam holds back a storage reservoir, the ARROW LAKES, stretching 232 km north to REVELSTOKE.
