Cheam Peak


CHEAM PEAK (el 2,107 m) towers over the upper FRASER VALLEY east of CHILLIWACK. One of the most prominent peaks in the valley, it was named from the STO:LO word meaning "wild strawberry place." The local people also know it as Lhilheqey, "the mother mountain," believed to have been the wife of nearby Mt BAKER. The surrounding smaller peaks are her children.
