Church House

CHURCH HOUSE is a tiny village on the mainland coast near the mouth of BUTE INLET. Originally it was a main village of the HOMALCO First Nation and was located across the channel on MAURELLE ISLAND, where missionaries built a church. Around 1900 a gale destroyed most of the buildings so the village was moved to its present site. All residents subsequently moved away.
