CITY OF AINSWORTH was a small sternwheeler built in AINSWORTH HOT SPRINGS in 1892 by a local business consortium. They were concerned that the settlement should have a means of shipping to the railhead at Bonners Ferry, ID. Most of its service life was spent on a run between NELSON and the north head of KOOTENAY LK. On 29 Nov 1898 the vessel foundered in a gale off CRAWFORD BAY and was blown onto the rocks.
