AINSWORTH HOT SPRINGS, pop 50, is on the west side of KOOTENAY LK 20 km south of KASLO. It was the first townsite in the Kootenay Lk-SLOCAN LK area, established in 1883 by John C. Ainsworth, a wealthy Portland steamboat operator, and registered in the name of his son George.
