CLO-OOSE was a small settlement on the west coast of VANCOUVER ISLAND, at the mouth of the Cheewhat R south of NITINAT LK. It was in the territory of the Ditidaht, a NUU-CHAH-NULTH (Nootka) nation. A trading store opened at the site in the late 1880s and in 1894 David Logan and his wife Sarah became the first white settlers.
