Corbin

CORBIN is an abandoned COAL mining community south of SPARWOOD in the CROWSNEST PASS area. The mine, founded by Daniel Corbin, an American railway promoter, went into production in 1908 and was linked by the EASTERN BC RWY to the CPR's Crowsnest line. The mine closed in 1935 after a strike. The town dwindled away, though MINING continued at the Byron Creek Collieries nearby.
