CROMIE, Robert James, newspaper publisher (b 4 July 1887, Scotstown, QC; d 11 May 1936, Victoria). He came to VANCOUVER in 1906 to work for FOLEY, WELCH & STEWART, a large railway-building company. He was put in charge of one of its properties, the VANCOUVER SUN newspaper, and by 1917 he owned it himself.
