Culbert, Dick

CULBERT, Dick, mountaineer (b 1940, Winnipeg, MB). When his father was killed in WWII his family moved to W VANCOUVER. During the late 1950s and early 1960s he made several extended exploratory trips into the COAST MTS and made dozens of first ascents, most notably Serra V in the Waddington Range with Glenn Woodsworth in 1964. In 1969 he made the first winter ascent of Mt WADDINGTON with a large team. He made first ascents of the east ridge of Devil's Thumb in 1970, the Cat's Ears Spire in 1972...
