DAVIS, Henry Fuller "Twelve Foot," prospector, trader (b 1818, VT; d 13 Sept 1900, Lesser Slave Lake, AB). He came to BC from California to take part in the GOLD RUSH in the CARIBOO. Though he was unable to read or write, he discovered an error that had left unclaimed a rich, 12-ft strip of GOLD-bearing gravel next to the Discovery claim, thus earning his nickname.
