Euphausiid


EUPHAUSIID, also known as krill, is a tiny crustacean arthropod bearing a superficial resemblance to SHRIMP. Among other differences, euphausiids (order Euphausiacea) have 6–8 pairs of 2-branched legs, while shrimp have 5 pairs of unbranched legs. Approximately 85 species of euphausiid occur throughout the world's oceans and 23 have been reported in BC waters, with Euphausia pacifica apparently making up most of the biomass.
