FEDERATED LABOUR PARTY was a socialist party created in 1918 by the BC FEDERATION OF LABOUR. It absorbed members of the old Socialist Party of Canada and the Social Democratic Party, united mainly by dislike of Russian-style communism. In 1924 it affiliated with the new Canadian Labour Party, a loose alliance of provincial labour parties, and 2 years later disappeared into the INDEPENDENT LABOUR PARTY. See also LABOUR MOVEMENT.
