FORBES LANDING on Lower Campbell Lk, west of CAMPBELL RIVER on VANCOUVER ISLAND, was the site of a popular wilderness vacation resort. Established by Jim and Elisabeth Forbes in 1912, Forbes Landing Lodge offered hunting, sport FISHING and horseback expeditions into nearby STRATHCONA PROVINCIAL PARK, as well as an idyllic hideaway for many BC honeymooners. It was destroyed by the GREAT SAYWARD FIRE during the summer of 1938.
