GARE, Daniel Mirl "Danny," hockey player (b 14 May 1954, Nelson). The best HOCKEY player of the 20th century to be raised in the KOOTENAY and the first British Columbian to score 50 goals in the NHL, Gare played his minor hockey in NELSON and his junior hockey for the Calgary Centennials.
