GIFFORD, a station on the BC ELECTRIC RWY CO's INTERURBAN line 7 km northwest of ABBOTSFORD in the FRASER VALLEY, was probably named after Thomas Gifford, NEW WESTMINSTER MLA in 1910 when the railway was built. The area was previously known as Glenmore. A post office operated here from 1912 to 1948.
