GINTER, Benjamin George, contractor, brewer (b 10 Feb 1923, Wolyn, Poland; d 17 July 1982, Richmond). Raised on a farm near Swan River, MB, he left home at age 14 to make his way as an itinerant labourer. Following WWII he began a construction company, working for contractors in western Canada. In 1949 he moved to PRINCE GEORGE, his base for the next 2 decades, where his company helped to build the Pacific Great Eastern Rwy (see BC RAIL) and later the ALCAN project at KITIMAT.
