Hopkins, Elisabeth


HOPKINS, Elisabeth, nurse, artist (b 21 Apr 1894, England; d 22 Apr 1991, Ganges). She immigrated to VANCOUVER ISLAND in 1954. In 1964 she retired from NURSING and moved to GALIANO ISLAND, where she began to paint. Specializing in watercolours, she studied with Molly BOBAK and developed a charming, childlike style infused with humour. She also wrote and illustrated a children's book, The Painted Cougar (1977).
