Howe Sound


HOWE SOUND, north of VANCOUVER, extends 42 km from GEORGIA STRAIT to the mouth of the SQUAMISH R. The broad, outer sound is studded with islands, the largest being BOWEN and GAMBIER. The inner sound is a narrow, steep-sided FJORD. The sound is in the territory of the SQUAMISH First Nation, who at one time had several camps and village sites around its shores.
