JERVIS INLET is a majestic FJORD that doglegs 77 km into the COAST MTS on the north end of the SECHELT peninsula. It is part of the territory of the SECHELT FIRST NATION, who had important villages at the head of the inlet and at Deserted Bay. Capt George VANCOUVER explored here in 1792 and named it after Admiral John Jervis. A later survey named many of the places after events in the career of Admiral Horatio Nelson.
