JOHN, Mary, Dakelh elder (b 16 June 1913, near Prince George; d 30 Sept 2004). She grew up in the DAKELH (Carrier) village of STONEY CREEK, south of VANDERHOOF, and on traplines and in hunting camps in the vicinity. After attending RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS at FORT ST JAMES and LEJAC, at age 16 she entered an arranged marriage that lasted for 66 years.
