KEAN, Arthur David "Cowboy," rodeo promoter, pioneer filmmaker (b 26 Feb 1882, Emerson, MB; d 1961, Toronto, ON). The son of a US Army horse broker, he spent most of his childhood in the western American states. In 1897 he returned to Canada with his family and became a hunter, trapper and transporter in the BC Interior. He participated in the first Calgary Stampede in 1912.
