LEMPRIERE, a former CNR station 170 km northwest of REVELSTOKE on the west side of the N THOMPSON R, was named after Capt Arthur R. Lemprière of the ROYAL ENGINEERS. He helped survey the CARIBOO WAGON ROAD and also designed Holy Trinity Church in NEW WESTMINSTER. An internment camp was located here during WWII (see JAPANESE, RELOCATION OF).
