LIQUOR DISTRIBUTION BRANCH (LDB) was established as the Liquor Control Board (LCB) in 1921 by the Government Liquor Act, the same legislation that abolished PROHIBITION. The 3-person board was set up to regulate the sale of liquor through government stores, making BC the first province to choose government control of liquor distribution.
