Lone Butte

LONE BUTTE  () , pop 266, a ranching (see CATTLE INDUSTRY) and LOGGING settlement and BC RAIL station 12 km southeast of 100 MILE HOUSE in the CARIBOO, is named for a prominent flat-topped outcrop of basalt just to the east. One of the last wooden water towers from BC Rail's steam era is found here; several guest ranches operate nearby. The post office for this area was named Fawn for many years and was located 8 km east.
