LOUIS CREEK, 53 km north of KAMLOOPS on the east bank of the N THOMPSON R, was originally settled in 1886 by the BLACK prospector and storekeeper John Fremont Smith. It was the site of a ranch and hotel, and trapping, LOGGING and some GOLD mining all took place in the early days.
