MACALISTER, on the east side of the FRASER R, 40 km north of WILLIAMS LAKE, was at the heart of a small farming and ranching district (see AGRICULTURE; CATTLE INDUSTRY). Named after James M. Macalister, an early settler, it was a station on the BC RAIL line and had a post office from 1914 to 1953.
