MAPLE RIDGE is located on the north shore of the FRASER R, 45 km east of VANCOUVER. One of a series of suburban districts in the lower FRASER VALLEY that have enjoyed explosive growth since WWII, it is bounded on the west by PITT MEADOWS and COQUITLAM and on the east by MISSION. To the north are the mountains of GOLDEN EARS PROVINCIAL PARK. White habitation began in 1827 when the HBC built FORT LANGLEY across the river.
