McLagan, Sara Ann (Maclure)

McLAGAN, Sara Ann (Maclure), journalist, publisher (b 1856, Ireland; d 20 Mar 1924, Vancouver). She arrived in NEW WESTMINSTER in 1859 when her father, a member of the ROYAL ENGINEERS, was dispatched to the new colony. The family moved to MATSQUI, where her father worked as a telegrapher; at age 13 Sara qualified as a telegraph operator herself.
