Merriman, Alec Robert

MERRIMAN, Alec Robert, journalist (b 21 Apr 1920, Victoria). The son of Tom Merriman, a long-time writer with the Victoria Times newspaper, he joined the staff of the Victoria Colonist (see TIMES-COLONIST) in 1953 after 8 years as editor of Island Events MAGAZINE. He became the paper's outdoors writer in 1960 and wrote a daily column until his retirement in 1985.
