Moberly Lake


MOBERLY LAKE, pop 238, is a community on the north shore of the lake of the same name (29.43 sq km), 20 km north of CHETWYND. It is named for Henry Moberly, who lived in a cabin here from 1865 to 1868. The brother of the surveyor Walter MOBERLY, Henry lived for many years in the PEACE R country as a trapper, trader and prospector and wrote a book of reminiscences, When Fur Was King (1929). DUNNE-ZA (Beaver) people live at W Moberly Lake.
