Mollusc

MOLLUSC (or mollusk) is the term for members of the huge invertebrate phylum Mollusca. Only the phylum Arthropoda contains more species. There are more than 50,000 living species of molluscs, including the bivalves, or CLAM, GEODUCK, MUSSEL, OYSTER, SCALLOP and SHIPWORM (class Bivalvia); the gastropods, or ABALONE, SNAIL, and NUDIBRANCH (class Gastropoda); the CHITON (class Polyplacophora); and the OCTOPUS and SQUID (class Cephalapoda).
