Moricetown


MORICETOWN, pop 190 (2001), is located on the BULKLEY R, where it plunges through a narrow canyon 31 km north of SMITHERS on the Yellowhead Hwy (Hwy 16; see ROADS AND HWYS). The site has been an important FISHING camp (Kyah Wiget) for WET'SUWET'EN people for thousands of years. It is named for the OBLATE missionary A.G. MORICE.
