MUSIC FESTIVALS date back to 1913 in BC when A.E. Waghorne organized the first competitive festival in N VANCOUVER, consisting entirely of choral music. The BC (VANCOUVER) Musical Festival was founded in 1923 with the support of the Knights of Pythias and continued until 1960, when it was renamed the Vancouver Kiwanis Festival.
