Nasookin


NASOOKIN, 1,682 gross tonnes, was the most commodious of the PADDLEWHEEL STEAMBOATS to operate north of the 45th parallel and west of the ROCKY MTS. Built of steel at NELSON by the CPR, it was launched in 1913 and worked on the "Crow run" between Nelson and Kootenay Landing, the western terminus of the CPR route through the CROWSNEST PASS. To expedite shipments of ZINC concentrate from KIMBERLEY to the SMELTER at TRAIL, the CPR built a rail link along the southwest shore of KOOTENAY LK in 1930...
