NASS HARBOUR was an early cannery on Nass Bay at the mouth of the NASS R, 75 km northeast of PRINCE RUPERT. It was often referred to as McLellan's Cannery after James A. McLellan, who built it in 1887 and employed NISGA'A and CHINESE workers. The plant closed in 1928. The post office here, opened in 1890 and spelled Naas Harbour, was the earliest in the region.
