NATURE TRUST OF BC is a charitable corporation that buys ecologically significant land to preserve it as a public trust. Established in 1971 with a $4.5 million fund from the federal government, the trust owns about 200 properties, including riparian areas adjacent to SALMON spawning streams and sensitive GRASSLANDS and WETLANDS. For management purposes it leases much of its land to the appropriate government agency.
