OKANAGAN FALLS, pop 1,971, lies at the twin falls draining SKAHA LK south into the Okanagan R, 20 km south of PENTICTON. Originally called Dogtown, a reference to Skaha, a FIRST NATIONS word for "dog," it was a trading and SALMON fishing site and part of an important CANOE route.
