PEDEN, Douglas, athlete, journalist (b 18 April 1916, Victoria; d 11 April 2005, Victoria). Considered by many the greatest all-around athlete in BC history, he excelled at several sports. As a teenager he was a member of Canada's junior TENNIS team and the Victoria Blue Ribbons BASKETBALL team that won the national championship in 1935.
