PEMBERTON, Sophia Theresa, artist (b 13 Feb 1869, Victoria; d 31 Oct 1959, Victoria). She was BC's first internationally acclaimed female artist. The daughter of the surveyor J.D. PEMBERTON, she was raised in VICTORIA in circumstances of wealth and privilege and showed artistic talents from a young age.
