PEMBERTON TRAIL connected LILLOOET with BURRARD INLET via PEMBERTON and SQUAMISH. Completed in 1877 at a cost 4 times the original estimate, the trail was supposed to provide a route for Interior cattle raisers (see CATTLE INDUSTRY) to get their meat to markets around Burrard Inlet.
