Pemberton


PEMBERTON, village, pop 3,407 (2021), lies in the mountains 160 km north of VANCOUVER. It was named for Joseph Despard PEMBERTON, a government surveyor. The community was established in 1858 near the head of Lillooet Lk as a stop along the trail to the goldfields between HARRISON LK and the FRASER R (see also GOLD RUSH, FRASER R).
